Dams and hydropower

Dams perform a variety of functions. They are used to store water, limit flood risks, produce energy and allow navigation on rivers and canals. They also provide water supply for industrial and agricultural activities.

Dam bottom valves must meet specific requirements. Safely and reliably withstanding the considerable pressures in these large tanks without damaging the valves or the installation is vital. This requirement is linked to high drain capacity and flow rates, which must be achieved in a minimum of time, in order to immediately evacuate the stored water in case of danger.

The same requirements must be met in hydropower plants and other hydroelectric generating facilities. These facilities valves are particularly sensitive components because they often remain unused for many years, but must be able to maneuver very quickly and ensure a smooth and reliable operation.
